The founder and designer behind this company, Anya Hindmarch, began her business at the young age of 19. She decided to follow her passion in accessories and design and this passion has caused her company to grow to include 37 shops all over the world. As of February 2008, another 18 were added. This is a long way from the designer’s modest shop on the first floor on London’s Walton Street. Some of the places where you can find Anya Hindmarch handbags include On Pedder in Hong Kong, Lane Crawford in Beijing , Saks and Scoop in the US, Como in Milan, Dover Street Market in London, Net-a-Porter.com, Isetan in Japan and Colette in Paris. In 2006 and 2007 Anya was awarded the prestigious Designer of the Year by Glamour magazine. The designer is also environmentally conscious and wants to make it fashionable not to use plastic bags by selling a tote that says “I’m Not a Plastic Bag.”
